Presenters:
Mark Brayan, MD & CEO
Mark joined Appen in July 2015 as CEO and is responsible for the company’s leadership, strategy and culture. Mark has over twenty-five years’ experience in technology and services. Prior to joining Appen, Mark was CEO of MST Global, a provider of technology solutions to the resources sector. Before that he was the CEO of Integrated Research Limited (ASX:IRI), an international software company listed on the Australian Stock exchange. Mark was also COO of the HR outsourcing company Talent2 (ASX:TWO) and CEO of Concept Systems (ASX:CSI) before its merger with Talent2.
Mark has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and Bachelor of Surveying with 1st Class Honors from the University of NSW.
Sujatha Sagiraju, Chief Product Officer
Sujatha Sagiraju joined Appen in September 2021 as SVP of Product and she is responsible for the product strategy. She is a technology pioneer with over 20 years of broad experience in building disruptive large-scale online services and AI/ML and data platforms. She joined Appen from Microsoft where she held leadership roles in several groups including Bing and Azure AI Platform.
Sujatha has an MBA in Technology Management from University of Washington, Seattle, MS in Petroleum Engineering from University of Texas, Austin and BS in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai, India.
Wilson Pang, Chief Technology Officer
Wilson joined Appen in November 2018 as Chief Technology Officer and is responsible for the company’s products and technology. He has over 20 years’ experience in software engineering and data science. Prior to joining Appen, Wilson was Chief Data Officer of CTrip in China, the world’s second largest online travel agency, where he led data engineers, analysts, data product managers, and scientists to improve user experience and increase operational efficiency. Before that, he was senior director of engineering at eBay in California and held leadership roles in data services and solutions, search science, marketing technology, and billing systems. Previously, he worked as a systems architect at IBM.
Wilson obtained his Masters and Bachelors degrees in Electric Engineering from Zhejiang University in China.
Mike Davie, Senior Vice President & GM Quadrant
Mike Davie is the SVP and General Manager of Quadrant at Appen. Mike brings a strong background of experience in location data and location-based business solutions that are fit for purpose, easy to use, and simple to organize.
Prior to Joining Appen in 2021, Mike was the founder and CEO of Quadrant, growing the business’s mobile location data services to a portfolio of more than 450 million unique devices per month, enabling companies to see and understand movement patterns in the real world. With Quandrant he also developed a proprietary platform, “Geolancer”, which provides authentic, accurate, and up-to-date Point-of-Interest data, manually verified on the ground. Previously, Mike provided leadership and strategy to the Advanced Mobile Product Strategy team at Samsung where he developed GTM strategies for cutting edge technologies there.
Mike has a Masters Degree in Database Management and Business Intelligence from Boston University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University.
Ryan Kolln, Vice President Strategy & Corporate Development
Ryan joined Appen in October 2018 as the Vice President of Corporate Development and is responsible, along with the executive team, for the development of the company’s strategy including M&A activity. Ryan has a background in strategy and technology, having worked as a management consultant at The Boston Consulting Group and as an in-house strategy General Manager at Telstra where he advised on technology growth strategy, M&A and digital transformation. Prior to working in strategy, Ryan spent approximately 10 years in technology roles related to the development and performance optimisation of mobile phone networks.
Ryan has an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business where he was a Stern Scholar and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from the University of Central Queensland.
