Types of Jobs

Whatever your interests are—social media, linguistics, research, data, or something else—Appen probably has a job for you. We have several broad categories of jobs for our contributors, depending on how much time you’re able to commit:

Projects – These can be short- or long-term and can be a great source for more consistent work. You must pass a qualification process to be placed on a project.
Micro Tasks – Simple tasks that you can start right away after your application is accepted.
Surveys and Data Collection – Short projects that include taking surveys and providing data (such as voice recordings).

Within these categories, you can participate in a variety of valuable tasks such as:

Data Annotation (for images, audio, video, and more)
Search and Social Media Evaluation
Translation and Transcription Services
Linguistic Specialties
Speech Evaluation

For example, you may qualify for a project that requires you to read tweets and decide what they’re about and what emotion they contain. Or, you could be asked to review videos and identify important objects in them. You can choose which jobs best suit your interests, skills, and time.

As far as general requirements, you must be at least 18 years old to apply. You must also have access to a computer with Google’s free Chrome web browser and high-speed internet access.
